About the RoleBase Location: London, Reading, Perth or GlasgowSalary: Circa £50,000 + performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options availableMain Purpose of Job: Recognise and understand often complex energy policy issues which could have a current/future financial or operational impact on SSEN Distribution and work closely with the Regulation team to decide how SSEN could and should respond. Liaise to offer direct policy support and strategic advice to senior leadership on policy ahead of engagement with industry, government, the regulator and other key senior stakeholders. Work closely with the Public Affairs Manager to create and maximise opportunities to engage with key political individuals and senior decision makers to secure positive outcomes. Use data, insights, and your knowledge of the regulatory framework to influence key policy decisions for the benefit of our customers and business. Through accurate and in-depth reading of the energy context, gather and analyse up to date information on political, governmental and key influencer activities to provide policy advice and strategic support to SSEN Distribution. Working with others, identify the key business issues requiring Corporate Affairs support; and regularly review these to ensure they align with changing business priorities and objectives. Advise impacted business teams on the potential impact of existing and future government policies.What do I need?To be considered for this role, we would love you to have: A proven track record of delivering influential policy analysis or research. An in-depth understanding of the energy sector, the broader context of the UK and EU energy policy landscape and the policy development process in the UK. Experience or knowledge of regulated markets would be desirable. An ability to achieve business objectives through excellence in policy development, communication and influencing of key stakeholders. An ability to identify, understand, analyse and interpret potential problems, and suggest potential solutions. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey arguments that persuade and influence others.
