Base Location: Reading or London preferred | We're proud to offer a Flexible First approach to work, and this role is no exception.Salary: £37,600 – £56,400 + Performance-Related Bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options availableWhat is the Role?You’ll report to the Engineering Manager – Heat Networks (within the Distributed Energy business of SSE Energy Solutions) and will join the Heat Networks engineering team, where we are seeking an additional Mechanical or Process Engineer to help grow our district energy networks (heating and cooling) business. In line with the requirements of the role set out below, you’ll require relevant previous experience with a working understanding of both low-carbon energy centres and piping distribution systems.You’ll be responsible for producing project development deliverables, including conceptual and developed designs for new district heating networks and the generation of technical specifications for project implementation. You’ll be responsible for the review of detailed engineering designs for new-build assets and on-site validation during build-out and commissioning.For SSE’s operating district heating schemes, you’ll provide engineering support in troubleshooting and optimisation recommendations to the asset managers and O&M team. Additionally, you’ll also provide technical reviews of adoption opportunities for SSE in tendering for ESCo contracts.What do I need?To be considered for this role: You’ll be a qualified Mechanical or Process Engineer. You’ll have the ability to demonstrate working experience in district heating and cooling engineering. You’ll possess a good understanding of district heating and cooling technologies, including boilers, CHP units, steam cycle bleeds, heat pumps, chillers and balance of plant systems. You’ll have excellent report-writing skills and MS Excel proficiency.
