The Act’s overall targets are ambitious, and the tone and focus of the Act is something that we at the ADE welcome. Confirmation of the EPC C target for homes and a requirement to bring forward policies on district heating for new developments are complemented by a clear focus on engaging citizens in the changes that are needed. The Act has a focus on climate justice and makes links to other priorities such as public health and biodiversity, and requires the establishment of a Citizens’ Assembly on Climate Change. We will continue to work with the Scottish Government, in particular on heat decarbonisation, as they translate these commitments into delivery.
