Decentralised Energy Awards 2022 Shortlist - Heat and Efficiency: Operational
Hams Hall Sustainable EnergyBasePowerBasePower’s ongoing innovation has achieved another industry first for a Tier 1 automotive supplier. The third CHP scheme for Plastic Omnium’s UK operations provides heat to the site’s air handling units, paint shops and its thermal oil system. Fully funded by BasePower, this gives Plastic Omnium the benefits of a CHP without having to deploy its own capital or human resources. Lewisham City Quarter District Heating NetworkE.ONA heat network originally designed for a single development, comprising of 800 residential units, commercial space and public sector buildings in Lewisham in 2013, has been subsequently optimised and enhanced and now supplies two additional new developments built by different developers at different times. The heat network now supplies over 2000 customers, creating Lewisham’s first city quarter district heating solution. Equipment WorksFairHeatThe Equipment Works project is an exemplary heat network that has demonstrated that delivering exceptionally high performing and futureproofed Heat Networks can be achieved without increasing CAPEX or requiring a new supply chain. It sets the precedent in the industry that systems can be delivered heat pump ready with low temperatures and high efficiency. Clapham ParkPinnacle PowerPP were appointed by the client Metropolitan Thames Valley to complete full end to end design, build and O&M services under an ESCo arrangement. We are currently installing the heat network mains route, interconnecting the main plots at Clapham Park. Greenwich Millennium Village Heat NetworkSwitch2 EnergySwitch2 Energy has partnered with Greenwich Millennium Village (GMV) to raise the efficiency and reliability of the heat network, reduce carbon emissions and deliver excellent support for residents. The retrofit scheme involves replacing underperforming energy centres with new more efficient facilities, use of digital optimisation and AI learning, with a connected ecosystem of smart devices to improve efficiency, reliability, and sustainability, while futureproofing the heat network for net zero transition. Energetik Schemes, EnfieldSwitch2 EnergyEnergetik is leading the way for heat networks, reducing carbon whilst setting the standard for excellent customer service by going above and beyond best practice recommendations and technical standards. Switch2 is working with Energetik to provide metering, billing, award-winning customer services, maintenance to properties and efficiency improvements to reduce carbon and meet net zero targets. Leeds PIPES Energy from Waste District Heating ProjectVital Energi / Leeds City Council / Ener-VateThe Leeds PIPES heat network is a landmark project which has demonstrated how towns and cities can generate rapid carbon reduction. The scheme has already seen 26.5km of district heating installed, connecting 1,983 homes and 7 civic buildings with more connections imminent. The project utilises waste heat from the local EfW plant, will account for 16,256 tonnes of CO2 reduction per year & alleviate fuel poverty. The Decentralised Energy AwardsThe Association for Decentralised Energy's annual awards are the leading and most prestigious awards for those involved in decentralised energy, recognising and celebrating the people and projects which have developed innovative decentralised energy solutions designed around the needs of the user. The awards showcase innovation, best practice and achievements across heat, efficiency, power and flexibility. The winners will be announced at the ADE’s annual gala dinner, hosted at the stunning Hurlingham Club in central London on Wednesday 15th June. We’re so pleased we’ll be able to meet in person again to celebrate the sector’s success! Click here to get your tickets
