Decentralised Energy Awards 2022 Shortlist - Heat and Efficiency: Design Innovation
Leeds City Council Clustering for WarmthArupNorthern Housing Awards award winner, Leeds City Council, have developed a social housing roll-out scheme successfully delivering the first clusters of high-rise blocks decarbonisation retrofit. The collaboration of the Council with Arup (technical advisors) and Cenergist (D&B contractor) are rolling out ground source borehole array ambient loop heat pump solutions and fire sprinkler systems to over 26 blocks of flats. West Ancroft Ground Source Heat PumpCalibrate EnergyWe have successfully installed one of the largest ground source heat pumps in the country (8.2 MW in total) for a farming client to increase grain drying capacity, productivity and profit and to drastically decarbonise. This project has been a showcase for us to demonstrate our mission to rethink and reshape how energy is more economically utilised and consumed - Making Net Zero a Reality. The Electrification of Heat Demonstration Project: Newcastle City CouncilE.ON Energy SolutionsThe Electrification of Heat demonstrator was a flagship project delivered in Newcastle City, receiving >£5m in government funding to understand the barriers to deployment for Heat Pumps in the domestic retrofit housing market. Resulting in >300 individual homes being successfully transitioned from fossil fuels to low carbon heating, including Air Source Heat Pumps, Ground Source Heat pumps and Hybrid solutions (gas/ASHP). Bedford College low carbon upgradesSalix FinanceBedford College harness the power of the Ouse River as a result of Phase 1 of the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme to reduce heating and energy costs with £2.8 million grant. Southwark Heat PumpsVital EnergiVital Energi is working in partnership with Southwark Council to decarbonise their existing gas fired heat networks, across three local estates benefitting over 2,000 properties with a lower carbon heat supply. Saving 3,362 tonnes of carbon a year, this is the first time water source heat pumps have been retrofitted within an existing high temperature heat network in London. The Decentralised Energy AwardsThe Association for Decentralised Energy's annual awards are the leading and most prestigious awards for those involved in decentralised energy, recognising and celebrating the people and projects which have developed innovative decentralised energy solutions designed around the needs of the user. The awards showcase innovation, best practice and achievements across heat, efficiency, power and flexibility. The winners will be announced at the ADE’s annual gala dinner, hosted at the stunning Hurlingham Club in central London on Wednesday 15th June. We’re so pleased we’ll be able to meet in person again to celebrate the sector’s success! Click here to get your tickets
