The Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) Committee energy efficiency inquiry is examing whether the Government’s current delivery of energy efficiency improvements within residential, commercial and public-sector buildings is consistent with meeting targets set out in the Clean Growth Strategy, and our fourth and fifth carbon budgets.This inquiry is also likely to focus on action to upgrade the energy efficiency of fuel-poor homes and the Government’s work to drive demand for energy efficiency measures within able to pay households.ADE Deputy Director Dr Joanne Wade provided evidence to the inquiry on Tuesday, highlighting how local government can play a crucial role in delivering decentralised energy and energyefficiency, and the support they need to do-so. Questions included:  the scale of the increase in action needed;  whether energy efficiency should be considered an infrastructure priority;  the role of local authorities; how to encourage social housing providers to do more; and,  how to ensure that improvements in the Private Rented Sector happen.You can watch the video below (Dr Wade appears at 10:57).
