Briefing event | Bridgend tender on affordable urban heat networks | 19 September
OverviewOn 11 September, Innovate UK announced that Bridgend County Borough Council is launching a Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI) competition to identify how innovation in construction and smart technology can be used to cut the capital cost of district heating and water infrastructure as well as improve overall lifetime efficiencies, in terms of resource use and infrastructure economics.This links into the work they have been doing with the Energy Systems Catapult on their heat strategy, and the development (supported by BEIS and Welsh Government) of separate town centre and rural (mine water) heat networks.Bridgend are also submitting a bid to the Heat Networks Innovation Programme for capital for the networks.£2.2m is to be offered on a competitive basis in two phases to identify how innovation in construction and smart technology can be used to: Decrease the capital cost of district heating and water infrastructure; Improve overall lifetime efficiencies in terms of resource use and infrastructure economics.They are holding a briefing event on the 19th September 2019, 10:30-12:30, at the Life Sciences Hub, 3 Assembly Square, Cardiff Bay CF10 4PLThe notice can be found here.
