BEIS publish response to Facilitating Energy Efficiency in the Electricity System Call for Evidence
The call for evidence sought views on market barriers to energy efficiency in the UK, and how new markets could be created to secure energy efficiency's role in the wider energy market. Working with its members, the ADE responded to the call for evidence. A summary of responses to the call for evidence was published on 16 December 2020. BEIS will continue to work with stakeholders with a view to consult in 2021 on options to incentivise Electricity Demand Reduction projects. Respondents to the call for evidence generally agreed with the characterisation of the issues and challenges, and highlighted the increasing pressure likely to be felt on the electricity grid in the future, along with the importance of strengthening existing regulations and schemes to have a clear trajectory to net zero by 2050.
