BEIS have published competitions on energy flexibility and storage
1) Flexibility exchange demonstration projects: FleX competitionThe FleX competition will support the development and demonstration of innovative solutions to value and trade flexibility. This competition is looking for innovative and replicable flexibility exchange solutions which provide marketplaces for multiple flexibility products, offered by multiple providers (sellers) of flexibility to multiple buyers. The flexibility to be traded could be provided by domestic or business consumers from a range of sources, including: energy storage demand-side response (DSR) and demand reduction; or generationUp to £4 million will be available, from 2019 to 2021. The competition is expected to support up to 3 demonstration exchange projects to be operational by March 2021 with final trials and reporting to be completed by December 2021.How to applyThis competition is now live. Power-to-X technologies (e.g. power-to-gas) with a target minimum input power of 5 MW are also in scope.Up to £20 million will be available from 2019 to 2021. The competition will support up to 3 demonstration projects with build completion by March 2021 and operational testing to be completed December 2021.Projects should be at a technology readiness level of 6 or above, which could result in lower capital or operating costs to the traditional storage technologies, or improved capacity, sustainability and response rates at a comparable cost. How to applyThe competition is now live.Click here to read the guidance, and complete the application and finance forms.Deadlines to ask clarification questions: 3 April 2019 to register your interest: 17 April 2019 to submit proposals: 26 April 2019Information for applicants: event London, 4 March 2019 Register on EventBrite Not able to attend?
