ADE response to BEIS's publication of Proposals for Heat Network Zoning
ADE comment:Amy Ritchie, Heat Policy Lead: "We are pleased to see the publication of BEIS' proposals to introduce heat network zones in England. This follows the ADE's recommendations last year to introduce a zoning framework as a way to mobilise industry and ensure we deliver the most cost effective solutions for heat decarbonisation right across the country.A local, zoned approach to addressing the challenge of decarbonising heat and improving energy efficiency will deliver not only a massive reduction in emissions, but also an increase in comfort - as well as significant growth in jobs and skills across regions.BEIS have laid forth exciting plans. It is now crucial to ensure that the proposed framework supports the development of large scale, low carbon heat networks, gives local actors confidence to get moving and considers the role for consumer engagement to ensure we deliver a just approach to heat decarbonisation. We look forward to working with the Department and with our members to help make the net zero energy system of the future a reality."
