The Association for Decentralised Energy
The project involves the supply and installation of circa 3km of buried district heating mains through busy London thoroughfares, installation and commissioning of a new temporary containerised energy centres, supply and installation of two heating substations, associated controls and connection to the client’s BMS system. The works were completed in very tight narrow bus lane with minimal road closure width with no mechanical access to the trench location. Heating substations were designed and manufactured in house at our Northamptonshire workshop and dispatched to site in pieces to permit access to the plant rooms.
Eneteq worked closely with the site developer, Lend Lease, to coordinate the deliveries of materials due to the limited site storage space. All pre-insulated pipes had to be moved by hand along the base of the 300m+ excavation as no mechanical side access was possible due to the lane width working restrictions.
Due to the extent of existing services encountered, many special fittings and adaptations to the site design were required to be made on site, in order to mitigate unanticipated services. Eneteq undertook many of these special fabrications on site preventing delays in waiting for material to be imported.
Eneteq utilised our own fabrication facility to ensure the pipes and sub-stations were available on time and coordinated with the site-specific requirements of both the install location and access.
Eneteq employed its comprehensive quality processes for jointing and welding. All joints are photographed 10 times throughout installation and these photographs form part of the handover documentation along with GPS coordinated joints, air, hydraulic, weld and joint installation records.
Eneteq’s procurement specialists have 20 years+ experience in managing complex supply chains. We have preferred supply partners and operate a strict pre-qualification system for all new suppliers which adheres to our robust quality standards.
Our logistics specialists successfully coordinated all deliveries with the main contractor. Due to site constraints, all material had to be pre-slung for delivery by tower crane and arrive within a 30-minute time slot with all necessary safety and quality information.
