Next Government's first 100 days in power: What decentralised energy can do for you
On behalf of the 160 organisations that make up the Association for Decentralised Energy (ADE), this document highlights the importance of key decisions on decentralised energy within the next government's first 100 days in power to ensure a secure, prosperous and green future for the UK.
As the next government mobilises to transform the country into an independent energy superpower, we are the best-placed organisation to assist in achieving this goal.
The first 100 days are a critical period which will set the tone for the entire first term in office - implementable solutions and deliverable wins need to be confidently set out. To do this, the next Government must:
Scale up targets for flexibility so we can use as much renewable electricity produced in the UK as possible
Set a clear, ambitious strategy for the decarbonisation of industrial sites outside of the clusters
Set a clear strategy to deliver at least 20% of UK heat from heat networks by 2040
Require all mortgage lenders to upgrade their building stock to an average of EPC Band C
The ADE asks the next government to recognise the urgency of addressing this critical area – investors, developers, supply chain companies and the rest of our members would welcome an audience with you.
