This review, commissioned by BEIS, assessed the skills landscape for the UK heat network sector, identifying current skills gaps and future challenges. It emphasised the growing need for skilled professionals to meet the demands of the heat network market, which is set to play a critical role in the UK's net-zero targets by 2050. The review found key challenges such as a shortage of experienced project managers and engineers, diversity deficits, and a lack of specialised training for heat networks. Recommendations were made for coordinated efforts to build a sustainable skills base, involving policy stability, government support, and better vocational pathways.
