This study examined direct greenhouse gas emissions from low and zero-carbon heating technologies to guide the Scottish Government’s net-zero policy. ACE-Research, in partnership with the Energy Saving Trust, assessed emissions from various heating systems, identifying biomass combustion and hydrogen as significant emissions sources. The report recommended targeted data collection and mitigation measures to support policy on sustainable heating technologies. Findings inform net-zero building standards by highlighting areas for improvement in heating emissions, crucial for sustainable urban development.
