ESB

Electricity Supply Board (ESB) was established in 1927 and is majority owned by the Irish Government. ESB supplies electricity to approximately 2.3 million customers throughout Ireland and employees approximately 7,000 people.

As a strong, diversified, vertically integrated utility, ESB operates right across the electricity market: from generation, through transmission and distribution to supply.

Carrington Power is a new 880MW gas plant, finished in 2016 it generates enough electricity for one million homes. During construction around 8,000 tonnes of equipment for the site arrived by barge via the Manchester ship canal.
