The ADE welcomes National Grid's report into the power cut on 9th August.
As the industry and the public work to understand the course of events, transparency from all parties is crucial. Whilst there remain many aspects of this event that are still poorly understood, we are pleased to see the significant role of decentralised energy in supporting the Grid – even though if in this case, the loss of generation was simply too great to prevent a power cut.The smart system transition is already provoking hard questions about how we manage an energy system that is far more interconnected across heat, power and transport. The events of 9th August only serve to reinforce this.We look forward to the ESO’s final report in September and the findings of the Energy Emergencies Executive Committee.Read the interim report by clicking here.
