Households will rightly be rewarded to protect the fate of the grid
The cautionary announcement from the company highlights the need for an energy system that enables households to take back control by being rewarded for managing their demand, says the Association for Decentralised Energy (ADE). Sarah Honan, Flexibility Policy Manager at the ADE, said:“Warnings of potential blackouts from National Grid once again emphasise the need for immediate action. There is no question that, for many of us, this winter will be unlike any other in living memory. However, enabling households to take back control for the fate of the grid, and be rewarded for doing so, is a positive development. “While everyday people are not responsible for the geopolitical circumstances that have forced gas prices to skyrocket, we can play an invaluable role in protecting our grid for both ourselves and for the most vulnerable among us. It is only right that households will be paid for providing this essential service to maintain the security of electricity supply."
