The UKs energy system is undergoing exciting, wide-ranging change. To meet the growing need for a clean low carbon supply of electricity is it is vital that we develop ways to match the supply of renewable power and the flexibility of demand. Demand response is a valuable way of ensuring we achieve this and maximise the use of renewable sources of generation. Demand response is where energy users change their electricity consumption patterns in response to a signal or incentive; to match supply with demand when fluctuations occur; and to shift demand.Demand Side Response (DSR) is a new and rapidly growing business that, as it grows, will require oversight to ensure customer confidence and reliable, high quality levels of service. In response to this need, the Association for Decentralised Energy (ADE) has developed a code of conduct for demand response aggregators, which was published in November 2018. In May of this year, the ADE launched a compliance scheme for the code, called Flex Assure. Six companies have so far enrolled into the scheme and we are now looking for a well organised and enthusiastic individual to administer and help grow the scheme, on a part time basis from our office in Westminster. The energy industry has become a very dynamic and stimulating environment, which is changing at a rapid rate.
