ADE teams up with C-DICE to launch dispersed industrial decarbonisation sandpit
C-DICE is a postdoctoral development programme which aims to develop the advanced skills base required in the Infrastructure, Cities and Energy (IC&E) sectors, accelerating progress towards a net-zero society by 2050. A sandpit offers postdoctoral researchers the opportunity to win up to £30,000 in seed funding and involves active researchers and potential users of research outcomes coming together to think up innovative ways of addressing research challenges. The dispersed industrial decarbonisation sandpit aims to explore how industrial sites, ranging from small factory units to large refineries, can decarbonise in a way that does not significantly impair competitiveness. The sandpit will examine the barriers and opportunities to electrification for dispersed industry, to explore alternative energy sources such as hydrogen and inform policy for a net zero future. As well as academics, figures from the industrial sector are very welcome to join the sandpit – their real-life experience and expertise will be an invaluable part of the programme. Deadline for interest: 5pm, 26 January 2023.
