Report Blurb

This report is in response to the UK policy gap around decarbonisation of industrial energy use for industrial sites located outside of the six government recognised clusters. The ADE has zeroed in on electrification as the pathway to decarbonise up to 78% of industrial emissions with current technologies and up to 90% by 2035. Given the UK is far from achieving electrification at this scale, the ADE set out to understand why that is and what can be done to enable electrification of industry in dispersed sites. Our report is informed by a series of workshops held with ADE members and other key stakeholders in December 2024 and January 2025, complemented by additional desk research by the ADE policy team.
